Teeth Whitening - London Celebs and the ‘Simon Cowell Effect’
London is home to the UK media and celebrity circuit. And Simon Cowell is leading the teeth whitening revolution.
Simon Cowell has, according to the media, always been obsessed with teeth. In fact, many put the current teeth whitening phenomena across London and the UK firmly at the pop guru’s feet. As well as regularly undergoing teeth whitening in London and LA, Cowell has also put all past X-Factor winners through the cosmetic procedure in order to help them look like pop stars. White teeth are very much associated with success in the world of show biz.
A Moment of ‘Tooth’
But it isn’t just teeth whitening that is giving Cowell plenty to smile about – he’s due to marry make up artist Mezhgan Hussainy, and insiders say Cowell has transformed since he proposed to the love of his life. Ant and Dec have even built a giant model of Cowell for their new TV show Push the Button, saying that they were so dazzled by Cowell’s permanent white smile they decided to make a game about it. The Simon Cowell’s Teeth Game sees two families pitted against each other to win a £100,000 jackpot. The model has been described as “frankly terrifying” complete with high on the waist trousers and chest hair. Dec told the press that the engagement had changed Cowell: “He is really smiley all the time. It's incredible! He is the happiest we've seen him, and he has a spring in his step these days.”
Something to Smile About
Simon Cowell first came out about his love for the Afghan-born make-up girl on Piers Morgan’s TV show, Life Stories. He also admitted on the show that he had spent around £10,000 on teeth whitening and orthodontics, as well as indulging in Botox. Cowell’s obsession with teeth is well documented in the tabloids over the years. Fearne Cotton once said of Cowell: “He's got a teeth obsession. I’ve got quite massive front teeth and I think he’s quite envious. His are hilariously white. They’re blinding!”
There’s no doubt though that having noticeably whiter teeth is associated with success, fame and wealth – all of which Cowell has by the bucket load. Cowell has moved onto Botox as his next fixation and even compared to Botox ‘like cleaning your teeth’. Despite his love of cosmetic enhancements, he has said he would draw the line at plastic surgery. He told Piers Morgan who asked if he’d consider a facelift: “I think you've got to be very careful as a guy, in particular, that you can end up looking really, really weird.”
